Homemade Almond Butter

Several months ago I picked up these:

I super loved them for about 10 minutes and then I never touched them again.

Today, as I was surveying the fridge, I noticed that my almond butter supply is on its last legs–PANIC MODE.

I am trying desperately to stick to my “Grocery Challenge” and resist going to the market for an ENTIRE week.  Consequently, I decided that it was time to get creative and make my own almond butter.

Having had several rough attempts at making coconut butter (and a very successful last attempt), I was nervous. I worried that it would take forever to grind up. I pulled out my new secret weapon:

This is a food processor that attaches to my emulsion blender. It is one powerful machine!

I poured in the 1 cup of cinnamon brown sugar almonds and added 1/4 cup of raw almonds:

I then started the Almond-Butter blending.

In about 3 minutes, it looked like this:

I love drippy almond butter, so at this point I added 1 tbsp. of melted coconut oil:

Within about 1 minute, it was a glorious Almond Butter goodness!

Then I poured it into a jar (I am obsessed with collecting glass jars right now!)

I proceeded to promptly drip it all over an apple–DELICIOUS!

If you have not tried making almond butter, you really should! It is super easy, far easier than coconut butter!

What is YOUR favorite nut butter? Have you ever made Almond butter from scratch?

  1. Wow… I cannot believe you made your own almond butter! Is the consistency more liquid than normal butters? How wonderful would that be on a scoop of amaretto or vanilla bean ice cream?!

  6. Almond butter is the ONLY butter in our house – I would live on the stuff if I could! I have tried to make it before but I think using only raw almonds was not a good thing for me, I need a little roasty goodness in my life. I usually just buy TJ’s creamy with sea salt. Love it!

    • TJ’s creamy with sea salt is my favorite, too! I need a little bit of salty goodness! I have a giant bad of roasted almonds, so I think I am going to try my next batch with them and see how it compares to Trader Joe’s!

  8. I have had a container of dark chocolate roasted almonds forever that this will be happening to! I don’t like the way they taste whole, but I bet as a butter it will be amazing! Thanks for the wonderful idea 🙂
