Frugal Frog Friday: Take 4

Frugal Frog Friday

Friday:

Today I will be working late, so being frugal should not be a problem! Lately we have been doing Friday night DVR dates, but I would like to actually try to “Do” something. I think I may try to persuage Chase to go on a Fall Walk with me tonight. The temperature is going down so I think we may be able to smell fall tonight! YAY!

Maybe we will stop by our neighborhood Starbucks and get some hot chocolate. That would be thrilling—first cocoa of the year! I always order the kid sizes because they are exra cheap and a PERFECT amount. I like my drinks to be steaming hot at Every. Single. Sip. and getting a shorty ensures that this happens.

Saturday:

I am babysitting these cuties for 6 hours:

It will actually be fun and frugal—score! I actually worked a lot of overtime this week, so we might do something crazy like go out to dinner—oh my!

We also plan to go to the library to get some more free magazines and DVD’s. Forget Disney World, I think the library is the happiest place on earth!

If we do go out to dinner, I have been craving Mexican food like CRAZY. I actually find that eating Paleo is fairly simple at a Mexican restaurant if I just order the fajitas without the tortillas. The hard part is to avoid the chips and salsa…I may be “that girl” that brings crudites to dunk in the salsa. Would that be weird?

The great thing about Mexican food is that it is STINKING cheap. Being a frugal frog is rarely difficult, especially if you hate the taste of alcohol, thus forgoing any and all margaritas.

Sunday:

Sunday we get to have quality time with out little brother. I am trying to convince Chase that we need to go apple picking again. We have taken the little bro and he would LOVE it. He has never picked apples, and has been dying to do so. Actually, he has been also begging to make apple butter. He is obsessed with the concept.

Does anyone have any ideas on how one would go about making apple butter? It seems like quite the ordeal. I may have to beg him to consider something more rudimentary…like apple crisp.

The wonderful things is that apple picking is actually a great deal! At the orchard we go to, you get an incredible amount of organic apples for a reduced price, since you do all of the work! Plus, the experience is just so autumnal!

What are your weekend plans? Any ways in which you plan to be a frugal frog?

After years of GI issues and being prescribed numerous medications, I found perfection in eating Paleo! I am no longer bloated, nauseous, or miserable on a daily basis. I have delved into creating Paleo recipe-making and embracing an active and playful life!

  1. Weeks are seriously flying by, every time your frugal friday posts I can’t believe another week has passed!
Mexican food is really accommodating for gluten free diets I have found. They usually have good fish and chicken dinners too which can easily be made paleo.
Do you think there is anyway to make some good homemade paleo-ish hot cocoa? I’ve been thinking about it because normal hot chocolate is a little too heavy/ sweet for me.
And I’ve heard you can make apple butter in a crock pot but I’m not sure exactly how, good luck with that I bet it will be delicious! If that fails.. applesauce is always a pretty easy and healthy option.

  2. Ordering the kiddie size is such a good idea! I hate when the bottom of my grande gets cold…

I had Mexican last night! I totally think you should take crudites because the salsa is too good to pass up!

  3. a fall walk and hot chocolate sounds perfect!! I so want to do that tonight, but I think it’s supposed to rain 😦 and tomorrow is supposed to be a high of 50? not thrilled with that.

I made apple butter in my crock pot (shocker haha)… it came out pretty well but it was a little too sweet. I don’t have the exact recipe but I’m sure you can find one pretty easily online!

  4. Nothing too exciting this weekend… I use my weekends to catch up on life! haha

I always plan to be frugal around the first of the month when rent is due! 😉

Also, making apple butter or apple crisp sounds amazing, although I would have no clue where to begin with the apple butter!

  8. Apple picking sounds so fun! I have never been so I was going to try to convince my husband to go but it is kind of a drive away since apple orchards are kind of scarce in Texas. 😦 Hopefully my sad face works on him. Apple butter is really easy to make in the crockpot, you just add honey, cinnamon, and nutmeg but you would want to cook it over night or during the day so it may not be the best thing to do with your little bro because he would have to wait a whole week to try out the goods and that’s just mean. 😉 haha. Hope you have a great wknd!
