In Need of Advice…

I, Sally Anne, have a serious problem making haircut decisions.

I am an incredible common sensical person in all areas of my life…except when it comes to my hair.

You see, I have a tendency to choose extremes when it comes to my hair. After getting married in 2007, my hair looked like this:

Then one day I woke up and I wanted a change. So I went to a salon in Bryn Mawr and got the most expensive and most impulsive haircut of my life.

I loved it…for a total of 10 days. And then I cried. Often.

I then spent the next 2 years growing it out…including my bangs, which is a painfully slow and rather ugly process! This year I reached my “long hair” dreams. However, it has now gotten to the point where I think it might be getting too long.

It also has no “style” other than the awkward layer created by my now chin-length “bangs.”

So what they heck am I to do? That is where you darling readers come in! Help!!!

My goal is to keep the length. I am not going back to the short hair days of old. I like my hair long. However, I need a bit of a change.

Consequently, I am going to give y’all options and you can vote. I am begging you to help me makes this decision. Left to my own devices, it is quite possible that I will come home bald.

  1. Definitely 1 or 2 – but I think 2 probably!! I LOVE bangs (we call them fringes you know!) but they are pretty high maintenance – I think 2 is the perfect compromise! You are SO lucky to have such gorgeous straight hair you know!! xox

  2. I definitely suggest getting some layers so that when your hair falls, it will be swingy rather than stringy! I had this same probably when my hair was super long. It just hung and didn’t do anything!

  3. I’m in the same “my hair can’t decided what it is” phase…It’s just nerve-racking. Hang in there. Any of those styles are beautiful. 🙂 ~Megan

  4. I like 2 for you. It doesn’t go FULL bangs but gives you a little bit of a different look. And you have a nice forehead, so no need to hide it. Plus, I think it’s the sexiest of the choices.

    • All of a sudden my hair is growing like CRAZY! I don’t know if it is Paleo or what, but something is in the water!

I agree with you on the bangs! I just think they are a nice addition!

  7. I like B because it definitely gives you a change of style and you can always go shorter if you want but it’s not too crazy drastic. I just chopped my hair a couple months ago, it was pretty long (for me) and I went a little above my shoulders. I had short hair for a very long time so it’s nothing new for me but I had become attached to my longer hair so it was still quite the change! I also had short, side swept bangs which I have been growing out for awhile now because my husband has never seen me w/o bangs. I kinda miss them! and I agree, bangs take so long to grow out! Can’t wait to see what you choose!

  8. Layers are always the way to spice up a long hair cut! I also experience going from long to short. This time around, I just added more layers and there is such a difference, yet it’s still long.

  9. I’ve totally been there on the haircut!! I voted for Jennifer Aniston because I’m totally obsessed with her (and on a total Friends kick) but I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them really!

  10. I just recently missed my bangs and i took the exact picture (Option A) with me to get my haircut! I love Reese’s long hair with bangs!

  11. Colleen and I just had a discussion on what you should do– you’d be surprised how many times your name gets passed around in our conversations, always in a good sense, of course :).

Anyway! We both say long layers for sure. If you are on the fence about bangs, then I would say get angles to soften your face. Sometimes bangs are tricky and hard to manage.

  12. This is so funny because I showed that exact pic of Reese Witherspoon and Gweneth Paltrow to my hair stylist 2 haircuts ago! I wound up with something totally different, but I like where your head is at 🙂

  13. As the husband, maybe can my vote count twice? Gwenyth’s is by FAR the worst. Lizzy McGuire and Reese Witherspoon are the best, with Reese edging Lizzy out. I’m just saying, I was the one who got to try to revive you from your previous post-haircut induced depression … Haha!

  14. I’d totally do B (or D for a 2nd pick) with your hair! —Ha! Not like I’ve seen it in real life or anything…. But I think those kind of flowy layers would be pretty…. 🙂

  15. Definitely the Hilary Duff! It’s pefect for you, and you’re not going to regret the more subtle bang action.

  18. I love Reese’s. You would look super cute with that. However, if you are not up for the bangs, I would go with B or C. You will look grand with any cut! You’ve got GREAT hair! :o)
