Hair Update!

Thank you so much for all of you hair insights on Thursday! It was just the motivation I needed!

The winner of the hair pole was Hillary Duff:

That is exactly what I showed my hairstylist.

And the final result:

The great news is that this even fit into my Frugal Frog aspirations, as I had a $10 coupon to the salon.

While I realize I could have probably saved $15 if I had went to Great Clips or Fantastic Sam’s, I think the little extra cost is well worth it! I have had several awful experiences with bargain haircuts and a few extra dollars is worth the peace of mind! Also, I get my haircut about 3x/year so this is not a regular occurrence. Also, I actually find it relaxing when it is done in a nice environment so I feel super pampered for a mere $10 = Worth it!

Do you splurge on haircuts? What do you think is worth the extra cost?

  2. Love the hair! Very cute!

I usually DO spend a lot when I get my hair done. I get it cut & hi-lited 3-4x per year!

  3. I love it!!! Yes, I definitely splurge on hair care….cuts, color, products, etc. I have found it is worth it. I skimp on a lot of things (like make-up, clothes, purses, etc., but not hair.

Does Chase like?? That really matters most!

  4. CUTE! It does look really good on you! Glad you like it and it all turned out so great! Worth the piece of mind for the cost!
…I do spend more than I would like on a haircut but hey,it costs more to have someone cheap flub it up and then pay to get it fixed by someone good!

  5. I love it! I believe it is a woman’s right to splurge on her hair! But you did an amazing job at getting a great cut for 10 bucks. Unbelieveable!

    You’re gorgeous!

  6. I think it’s worth to go splurge on a hair cut. Cuz a bad hair cut will affect my daily mood until it grows longer and better looking lol. Besides, with long hair especially, it only takes 2 to 3 times a year to get it done. Why not spend the extra cash to get something you like better :)! Love the new hair, you look gorgeous 🙂

    • Carolyn, that is so true! Even though it is “just hair” it can really ruin your day if you hate your cut! Plus, you are right that long hair only needs a couple cuts a year–totally worth the little extra cost to be HAPPY!

  7. Yay that’s the one I voted for! 😉 Looks GREAT on you!

I’m warming to the concept that a more expensive haircut is usually worthwhile, but I don’t go to the mega-expensive salons and instead stay for the mid-range ones so that it’s not a huge cost burden.

    • Yeah, I shoot for mid-range. I once thought I was at a “mid-range” and when I went up to pay for the haircut it was $90. Um, WHAT?!?!? I never knew a simple haircut could cost that much! Needless to say, I never went back there again! 🙂

  8. I LOVE getting my hair cut, and since it’s short, the margin for error is higher so I do pay to see a stylist who I know will do a good job. I don’t get it dyed/highlighted so it’s not as bad as it could be, but it’s $40 + tip every two months. Not exactly frugal, but not breaking the bank either.

  10. I love it!! So gorgeous and it looks totally fresh! I’ve literally never had an expensive hair cut. My hair is super curly so basically there’s no way you can mess it up short of hacking it really short. I did have some really awful highlights done when I lived in the Dominican Republic. Language barrier. They were definitely orange. Lol.

  11. Love your hair! It was defiantly a great choice! I do splurge on haircuts, but it’s because I only get them 2-3 times a year. I know it’s so bad for my hair, but you have to sit there for so long and it’s expensive!

  12. I love it! The layers look great – very fresh. 🙂 Since I had short hair for a long time, this recent cut where I chopped my hair cost $75…ehh a little too much for my liking! My hubby wanted me to pick a nice salon in downtown Austin since I never splurge on my hair but I think I could’ve gotten the same cut for a much cheaper price so I think that will be the last expensive cut I get. I will say the amazing head massage I got from the hair washing gal may of been worth it though 🙂

  13. Love your hair!! She did such a great job! Yay!! And great job with the coupon!

I usually splurge on my hair. It’s something I have to deal with every day, and I prefer to wear mine down.

  14. The haircut looks great!! Shapes your face just perfectly!

I think it’s more important to trust who is cutting your hair and know that she actually knows what she is doing with scissors in her hand. A photo always helps too to get your idea across!
