Happy Frugal Frog Friday!

Happy Frugal Frog Friday!

I know I missed last week’s FFF, but I feel like it has been months since the last one!

As cooler weather has just descended upon Pennsylvania, I have found myself breaking out my boxes of winter clothes that have been in storage for months. However, instead of mindlessly transferring my summer dresses out and hanging up my sweaters, I decided it was time for one of my favorite games: Keep, Consign,orΒ  Giveaway.

If the item of clothes was dated and I did not wear it last winter it went directly into the “Giveaway” pile. If it was “like new” and I had not worn it or it was too big, placed it into the “Consignment” pile.

If you have never been to a consignment store you are missing out! It is a wonderful place to buy or sell never-worn, or barely worn clothes, shoes, etc.

“Twice as Nice” is one of the great consignment shops I use. For this store, like many others, you have to schedule an appointment to drop of clothes. I would recommend calling before you visit to check protocol if you are interested in selling some of your clothes.

“Twice as Nice” keeps your clothes for the entire season, and if it sells, you get 50% of the profit. If it does not sell, you can get it back.

Another store I like to use is “The Attic.”

“The Attic” is SUPER trendy and the clothes must be practically brand new. The convenient thing about this store is that they buy the close directly from you. It is nice to have that instant financial gratification! πŸ™‚

This weekend, I hope to make a couple consignment visits!

On a somewhat connected, but not really connected note to Frugal Frog Friday:

I, unexpectedly, got offered a Full-time job!

(I have been working 4 part-time jobs–which is fun but STRESSFUL and does not provide benefits)!

I am incredibly excited, but definitely in a state of shock!

I will now be working at the graduate level which is absolutely thrilling; however, I will still keep one of my part-time jobs that I cannot abandon until June. So, as of right now, I am super employed.

This basically means that I get to loosen the reigns of frugality a bit–I might even go shoe shopping this weekend–YAY!

Frugal Frog Friday will still be a weekly occurrence, but it may be more about saving money and finding deals and less about spending absolutely NO MONEY. πŸ™‚

But back to the important thing….SHOES!

Right now I am contemplating embracing the boot trend.

Should I go for the:

1) High-Heeled Boot

2) Riding Boot:

3) Or stick with my comfort zone (HEELS!)

I do not own a pair of nude heels; however, can you wear nude shoes in the Fall/Winter?!

Do you love shoes? Have you embraced the boot trend? Where is your favorite place to buy shoes?

I love DSW and I think I may be planning a trip there tomorrow!

  4. Congrats on the job offer! 2 of my friends just bought nude heels so I’ve been really into that idea lately, I think they are really versatile and cute. But those riding boots are equally as cute and you could probably get more use out of them… Either way have fun out shopping!

  5. Congrats on the new job!!!!! I’m thinking about pulling the trigger on some boots this year. I like the riding boots because I think they’ll be more stable once it gets snowy and icy outside.

  6. Yay – congratulations on the job offer – and well deserved too Im sure!!
Um, if nude heels arent acceptable in Winter somebody needs to tell me that because I have some and they are the ONLY heels I wear (apart from black boots). I LOVE them. However I m basically incapable of making myself wear heels (so I guess I dont love them that much), wheras flat boots I wear to death and think are so so so useful. I have NEVER regretted buying flat boots!! xox

  9. Congrats on the new job!!! That’s great! Definitely time to celebrate with some new shoes! My vote is both – boots( I like the riding style) and nude heels! πŸ™‚ Why not?? You deserve to splurge a little and I’m sure you can find some great deals if you do some sale shopping!

During fall & winter I wear mostly boots, I have 13 or 14 pairs – half being cowboy boots and the other half are a combo of flat and heeled boots. I recently went through all my clothes and bagged up a ton of stuff but I have yet to attempt going through my shoes. I need to tackle that soon!

I’m all about the riding boots right now! I just got a pair that I’m going to try to have taken in. I also love nude pumps, though, but I’d go full-winter and get boots!

  14. Congratulations! I am so happy for you!! It’s always nice to have a little extra spending money!

I would suggest getting a pair of boots. Nude pumps are a staple item (and they make your legs look great!), but they are slowly going out of season. They are the perfect shoes to pair with a cute dress in the summertime for an effortless look, but don’t go that well with fall colors.

If you’re looking for a pair of boots that can be worn with almost anything, go for a flat, riding boot. They can easily go from day to night–just think about your wardrobe and think about what would work best!

  15. Congrats on the job, Sally Anne! I would definitely get the riding boots. A good pair of boots is something that you will end up needing practically every day in fall/winter! I don’t know what I would do without my boots. And DSW? I’m in there wayyyyy toooo much!

I know nothing about fashion, but I’m going to vote for the boot heels. It’s kind of like you get to have the best of both worlds, right? 8)
