Today I am thankful for…

In the spirit of full disclosure, the past two days have been rather awful. Blogs are such a funny thing because they only reveal one layer of life.

Source

It is a true and real layer, but it is simply one of MANY. I think of the blog layer as the red part of the cake…the one with the most frosting…what can I say, I love frosting and I love you all! 🙂

Behind the scenes of this little bloggy, crazy, chaotic, sad, and stressful things have been happening; however, today is a new day and I want to make it a GREAT day.

Since it is November, the month of THANKS, I decided to make a list of several of the many things I am thankful for:

1) My amazing family who love and support me (especially when Chase is gone). They even read (and comment!) on my blog. (I am looking at you Mumsie and Tricia)

2) Outlet shopping

Today I am meeting my sister in Maryland and we are going Outlet shopping. And, I just happened to get a J. Crew factory store coupon in the mail yesterday–it is like God new I was coming…I am pumped!

3)  Oswald Chambers’ My Utmost For His Highest

Source

I keep waking up around 3 AM and reading Oswald Chambers always keeps me company. Is is an awesome devotional.

4) My bloggy friends!

Colleen at Jimmy Choos on the Treadmill and Julie and Spinach and Sprinkles, both gave me this award. It totally made my day!

If you have not checked out these two blogs you are missing out!

Colleen has impeccable fashion sense. Her fashion posts are incredible. She also has an amazing family with lots of siblings and I am so jealous! Reading about her adventures is so much fun!

Julie is a teacher and a total health rockstar. You can always count on getting a wonderful healthy recipe (with sprinkles on top, of course!) or an adorable story. Seriously, y’all need to check these blogs out!

Now the point of the Liebster award is to spread the love and share the thanks! So now I have to select 5 add blogs that I love and am thankful for! Um, hardest choice ever! I have SO many favorite blogs!

1) Emmy from Wine & Butter (This adorable Brit is literally an expert on all things healthy eating.)

2) Katie from Katie Did (Katie’s meals literally make me drool. And she loves healthy fats ALMOST as much as I do!)

3) Liz from Southern Charm (Liz lives in New Orleans…and somehow doesn’t eat beignets every single day…um, if that isn’t healthy living I don’t know what is. There is no way I would be able to resist the powdered sugar goodness.)

4) Kathryn from Flopoodle (You will always get adorable pet pics and crazy amazing workout inspiration from Kathryn!)

5) Corrie Anne from Corrie Anne (Well, I mean she does have the best middle name EVER. She also has awesome recipes, fun stories, and she has made her husband cookies every Friday of their marriage–um, luckiest husband ever.)

However, I love ALLLL of my bloggy friends so very much and am thankful for every single one of you!

What are YOU thankful for today?

The rules are simple:

  1. Thank the giver and link back to the blogger who gave it to you.
  2. Reveal your top 5 bloggers and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.
  3. Copy and paste the award on your blog.

  1. I loved the cake analogy and I couldn’t agree more! So much goes on ‘behind the scenes’, sometimes I think less than 1% of my life winds up in the blog! But I hope you have an awesome weekend. 1 week down and just 3 to go until Chase is back! Thanks so much for the award too, that made my day 🙂

  2. I’m thankful for my family who is always not behind me during tough times, but beside me…. I’ll send out a prayer for you, simply because I would need lots of them if my husband and I were in your shoes. Hugs!
Have fun outlet shopping and be sure to laugh a lot with your sister, that is always my best medicine 🙂

  5. Well, let me first say that I think there are fewer things in “eating” life as great as FROSTING!! I’d eat frosting on Salmon if I thought I could get away with it in public!
Regarding tough times…..Some words of wisdom from someone who has lived many happy times and many tough times. When times trouble me, I first make sure I’m doing all I can to bring peace to the situation (pray, reach out to people involved, work, etc)….then I resolve myself to the fact that I will make it through this time so as to appreciate the happy times all the more!
Alos, thanks for sharing your favorite blogs…..I plan to check each of them out!

    • Geez, Tricia, I was totally meant to be your daugher-in-law. It is like God knew! Love, love, love your advice! (as always!) And clearly, we need to eat lots of frosting this Christmas. I am totally PUMPED for gingerbread houses—I am winning this year–Als is going down!

    • How do you pronounce Paleo??? I need to know for when I talk about your blog to my husband. I act like my favorite blogs are the news and I’m always telling him tidbits…

      • Dude, I totally talk about you to Chase! Ha! Ok, so “paleo” is pronounced like “paleontology.” (ya know, Ross’ job from Friends…p.s. I totally was not allowed to watch that show until I was married–ha!). So “paleeeeeo.” Does that make any sense?

  10. Aww – thank you thank you!! Ive had such a busy weekend but what an amazing thing to wake up to! And you know we are bloggy sisters! I’ll need to give you a proper shout out and some love tomorrow – exciting!!
ALSO I loved your frosting analogy. Its hard sometimes blogging because you think it would be good practice for writing books or articles or something… but the tone you have to maintain is very different. Sometimes it can feel false, but then I know (generally) upbeat blogs are the type I like to read … so you I cant really expect other people to be different. The one thing I will say is that I think maintaing an upbeat tone on your blog is good practice (for me anyhow) at staying that way in life… which is always good, when there is so much to be happy about and grateful for!
I’m really sorry youre having a tough time but I commend you for your honesty and Im SURE things will look up soon – sending lots of love hugs over the pond to you! xox

  11. Awww thank you so much for tagging me, that is so sweet! I really appreciate it!

On another note, I am so sorry things have been tough for you this past week, and I’m sure everything is amplified by Chase being away. You always have such fun, upbeat posts and an awesome attitude that shines through in your writing. That attitude will get you through anything!

  12. I’m thankful that I found (with a little help from my mom) you blog with the gluten-free recipes. My picky 10-year-old was recently diagnosed with gluten allergy/intolerance and I need a crash course in how to make something that doesn’t taste gross.
