My Favorite Things This Week

Last week was nuts and I completely forgot to post about my Favorite Things! While usually my price cap for Favorite Things is $5, but this week I am upping it to $10.

1) Pickles and Ham:

Guys, I am literally LOVING this combination. I divide a slice of ham into three pieces and wrap each piece around a mini dill pickle–Oh. My. Gosh. It is insanely delicious. And, cucumbers are totally vegetables, by the way. I realize that this snack is a bit high in sodium; however that is my intention. I have had crazy low blood pressure lately, which makes me dizzy, so I have been trying to up my salt intake. Every other paleo food I eat is super low in sodium, so it all balances out!

Cost: Way less than $1 per serving

2) Sunless Tanning Lotion

Pamcakes & Coffee just did an excellent post on Jimmy Choos on the Treadmill about sunless tanning. This is something I have decided to embrace whole-heartedly in Chase’s absence. I REFUSE to see him all brown as a berry from his month in California while I am pastey white. This tube is the generic brand of Jergen’s Natural Glow Sunless Tanning. This cost about $7.Β  This is a smallΒ (skin cancer-free) price to pay to prevent Chase from totally showing me up!

3) Antibiotics:

Ok, I realize that this is totally lame, but these antibiotics are SAVING my life (and preventing my pink eye and sinus infection from getting any worse). I am pretty sure the $10 copay was the best money I have spent all week. Don’t get me wrong, they are horse pills and I wish I had been able to throw this nasty infection weeks ago, but my body is crying out for reinforcements and here they are! Woohoo!

4) Selling Things on E-bay

I have been sorting through all of our storage and bringing everything to tip-top organization. However, in this process, I have found items to be e-bayed. I have one item that I am 90% sure I want to post on e-bay, but I need your help in making the final decision.

Ok, the object at hand are these shoes:

These shoes have only been worn once. In fact, they were only worn for 5 hours and then placed in the box where I just found them. You see, I will never wear these shoes again. My taste is shoes is more this:

The only reason that I am slightly hesitating in selling my plain jane shoes are because they are the pair I wore on my wedding day.Β  However, they were just shoes I picked up from Macy’s at a summer sale a few weeks before my wedding. There was nothing sentimental or memorable of any part of the process.

So, can I just sell them, or does that make me a horrible and unsentimental person? What do you think?

Also, what are the things you are loving this week?

  1. Thanks so much for the shout out!! πŸ™‚ Let me know if you like that sunless tanner. Even though I can be sentimental, I have become much more willing to give things away (clothes, shoes, etc.) if it means more room! I should really think about E-bay, too! Glad you’re feeling better!

  2. That’s funny I was thinking about the exact same sodium issue this morning as I was eating overly salty tasting cottage cheese. I started wondering if I eat too much salt, but then I remembered that the past few doctors visits have come back with low blood pressure values so a little extra salt is probably not a bad thing for me.
I’ve been loving Kim-chi and butterscotch chips straight from the freezer.

  3. Such great things- sunless tanning is my favorite! I feel so bad when I dump $20 worth of sunless tanning stuff in my cart ($10 body lotion + $10 face lotion) but it is *totally* worth it to not get sun cancer. Plus, my dermatologist made me promise no more tanning- even though I only tanned for my sisters wedding, my best friends’ wedding, and mine. Never agin.
As for the shoes, if they aren’t of importance to you- I say pitch em. It all depends on what means the most to you πŸ™‚

    • Preach it–$20 is a small price to pay for NO skin cancer! I have never used a tanning bed, but have already had a couple of “close-to-cancer” moles removed so that has been enough to scare me!

Also, I am TOTALLY going to e-bay those pumps, ASAP!

    • Oooh! I have heard of Arbonne but never tried it. I have been trying to find one with most “natural” smell. Keep me posted!

Also, I stinking LOVE that you are selling your wedding dress–I TOTALLY want to do that too! IT is not like I am going to wear it again! Those shoes are going on ebay STAT.

  6. Pickles and ham sounds delicious. I’d even spread some mustard on the ham (mmmm…. even more sodium). I’d say sell the shoes. I’m sure you have plenty of way more meaningful sentimental reminders of your wedding day.

I used to use Dove sunless tanning lotion, but then decided that it smelled too much like sunscreen to wear anymore haha. How is the Jergens? Does it have any funky smells?

    • Brittany, I have been on a search for a more “natural” smelling lotion. The Jergens is getting better–but not perfect. I keep trying different brands. If I find one that is better–I will let you know!

  10. I’d sell them. If you’re not going to wear them again and there is nothing sentimental, they are just collecting dust. But that’s just me .. I have issues with clutter πŸ™‚

Also, I totally understand your love of cereal. Before I had to go gluten-free I would walk up and down the cereal aisle whenever I had a bad day. All of those cereal options and wonderfullness just made me smile!

  13. I am all about the at home tanning lotions/sprays lately… trying really hard to break my habit of tanning in beds! This week I am definitely loving mushrooms more than normal. And natural peanut butter, but I guess that’s every week πŸ™‚

    • Yeah, nut butters know no season in my love–every week it is on my favorite list. The tanning lotions are great–especially in the winter because it is tanning and moisturizing all in one–YAY!

  15. Ha! Ash and I were laying on the couch and I was scrolling through pinterest and he saw all the shoes you pinned and said, “like shoes much?”, haha. It just made me laugh out loud to read this post about *shoes* after that comment last night! πŸ™‚
