Going Home…

Greetings from old Kentucky home! I have returned to the land of horses and I could not be more thrilled!

(These are our horsey neighbors. Aren’t the just gorgeous?!)

I am so excited to be back in my house with my Mumsie and Dad.  I grew up in a suburb 20 minutes outside of Louisville, Kentucky. My parents still live in my childhood home, so it is always nice to go back home! I thought I would share  the things that I am most looking forward to this week:

1)      Spending Quality Time with my family and  puppy dog!

We are having a relatively relaxed Thanksgiving, which I am totally looking forward to, as this means we will have a lot of time to sit back and talk!

2)      Yoga with Mumsie

My mom has become a total yogi this year. She is incredible! I am looking forward to going to yoga classes with her and learning all her fancy poses! Yesterday, we headed to yoga class right after I stepped off the plane and this morning I went to a Pilates class with her. I am sore in places I never knew could BE sore!

3)      Drinking tea in the morning room

When my parents redecorated the house last year, they turned our old dining room into the most amazing morning room/ sun room! It is my favorite room in the whole house. I am excited to curl up with a cup of tea and chat with Mumsie, or read a book.

4)      Talking to real, live, adults!

With Chase being gone this month and me working crazy hours + babysitting 24/7, I have become STARVED for face-to-face conversations with people! Don’t get me wrong. I love those little babies—but they are not exactly budding conversationalists.

5)      Hiking

One of the coolest aspects of my house in Kentucky is that we have a 140 acre nature preserve in our backyard. It is amazing. It is so much fun to go on walks and watch the abundance of deer and birds.

6)      Introducing Mumsie to Pinterest!

I have been telling her ALL about it so I cannot wait to show her the amazingness that is pinterest!

What do you like to do when you go back home? Do your parents still live in your childhood home? Do you still have your old bedroom?

My bedroom is now my mom’s study! However, I am so unsentimental, I was thrilled that she changed it into an office!

  1. My parents have moved so much, that I really can’t identify a childhood “home”. But that’s awesome that your parents still live in the same place! And the morning room looks so adorable 🙂

  2. Sounds like your Thanksgiving will be fun and relaxing! Seeing your horsey neighbor makes me miss riding!! My mom’s home is only 5 miles away… sooo I can’t really say I moved too far from the nest and really miss anything since it’s still pretty accessible ha ha!!!

  3. Enjoy your time at home! Your parents’ house looks beautiful!

  4. Have so much fun at home! I am so jealous that you have that amazing trail in your backyard! Happy Thanksgiving!

  5. Oooh. My room has been through two siblings since I moved along. Hazards of a big fmaily. I was blessed to actually have my own room!! We’re staying at Kevin’s parents’ house for the first few days of Thanksgiving. He didn’t really grow up here, but I think it’s changed quite a bit since his last few years of high school.

  6. My parents moved when I was in college, but my grandparents still live in my mom’s childhood home. I love it! Have a great long weekend, and Happy Thanksgiving!! 🙂

  7. My parents re-did my old bedroom, but still looks like a bedroom. They did turn my sister’s old room into a tanning bed/exercise room. And since then, they’ve decided to build a smaller house. So my old room will be no more by this time next year!

  8. ohy my goodness! can we time my trip across the states to visit you with some time when you are in that house…. because I seriously HAVE to visit!
Happy Thanksgiving!!! I am so thankful to have you as a reader and as a friend! Enjoy your day of sweets! 🙂 xoxo

  9. How fun! I bet your heart is so at peace right now! Being at home is just so good for the soul. I was going to be home for days and days but a kink got thrown in and now I had to head out, bummer. I love spending time with mom & dad out on the farm and just ‘being’ with them!

  10. My parents still live in my childhood home, although my room is now the guest room and doesn’t look anything like when I lived there. I can’t wait to go back and visit for Christmas! Happy Thanksgiving!

  11. Fellow runner popping in to say hi! I’m so jealous of your horse time!

  12. Aww you’re making me nostalgic for home! My parents still do live in the same home I grew up in and my bedroom is still the same- love it! Hope you’re having a great time visiting.

My mom use my room to store some of her stuff since I’m never home. I don’t mind though. Haha.

I hope you’re having a great time at home with your family and I hope you had a great thanksgiving!

  14. Love this! Looks like a wonderful Thanksgiving!

My parents live close, but with our schedules we don’t always see each other. I do love when I go home though, my parents do small things for me and my dad still tried to give me “gas money”. I love them!!
