Vacation Update and Mini Date Day

It has been a VERY busy week in the Midwest. We have been spending a lot of time visiting Chase’s Nana. She is doing SO much better. She may be able to be released from the hospital tomorrow–YAY!

Nan has not had much of an appetite lately, but she has had a hankering for cinnamon rolls. Thus, I did what any other granddaughter/baker would do–I got to baking!

I love making cinnamon rolls. I find it completely relaxing. It was a perfect stress-reliever–proofing the yeast, letting the rolls rise, baking, and frosting them. Chase and his mom were my taste-testers and they highly approved!

Nan was excited to get her special treat! We also brought her nail polish and I gave her a quick manicure. Can you tell that we have our priorities in order?!

Yesterday we had a bit of time and took advantage of the blip of free time and had a quick Chase/Sally date. We headed to Bissenger’s Chocolates. This place uses to only be a specialty chocolate vendor; however, they now offer so much more!

Chase and I decided to be silly! We were pumped to dive into some chocolates.

We also ordered the most insane hot cocoa EVER !

Chase love his bowl of cocoa, too!

We also tried the amazingness that is European Drinking Chocolate!

Basically this was just perfectly melted 100% dark chocolate that you ate with a tiny spoon.

It was a wonderful date day! It always feels nice to steal away for a bit in the craziness of holiday plans to take a moment.

Goal Check-up:

1) I am doing STELLAR at working out and running every morning–YAY!

2) I have been eating Paleo as much as possible (but allowing some cocoa here and there).

3) I have been drinking TONS of water. YAY!

Do you plan mini-dates when you are on a family vacation? Do you like hot cocoa? Do you like the mint/caramel/etc.  alternative flavors or do you stick to plain chocolate?

About paleorunnergirl

I am obsessed with cooking, running and reading! I teach American Literature at the college level, but enjoy books of all kind! After years of GI issues and being prescribed numerous medications, I found perfection in eating Paleo! I am no longer bloated, nauseous, or miserable on a daily basis. I have delved into creating Paleo recipe-making and embracing an active and playful life!
