Versatile Blogger

Hincks, half of the amazing duo that is Stinks and Hincks, nominated me for the Versatile Blogger award before Christmas. In all of the hullabaloo of the holidays, I completely forgot!

Thank you Hincks!!! The point of this award is to spread the blogging love and also share 7 random facts about yourself.Β  So here is my list. You must promise not to judge me for the things I am about to reveal.

1) I failed my drivers test the first time I took it.

So, in Oldham County, where I grew up and where my parents still live, you have to take your driver’s test in an actual town–no fake course. I was a nervous wreck the day of the test. And, I had to drive my grandma’s GIANT Bonneville because my car (a 1991 Volvo) did not have a working speedometer. Anyways, I did not even get to the parallel parking part of the test. It. Was. Bad. I officially failed for “scootching” at a Stop sign. There were about a million trees at an intersection and I HAD to scootch to see around the vegetation. It did not matter. I failed and sobbed many tears. Gosh, it was so humiliating and SUCH a big deal in my little 16-year-old life. However, 2 weeks later I successfully passed with flying colors–no worries.

I promise I am a good driver. Promise. πŸ™‚

2) Three years ago I won 2nd place in a 4H muffin contest.

(This is Chase posing with my Blueberry Sugar Doughnut Muffins and my ribbon)

While second place may sound all impressive, there were actually like 7 first place winners, 5 second place winners, and 4 third place winners. I lost points for unequal distribution of fruit. For real. As this was my very first contest, I had no idea that I was supposed to count and make sure there were 10 berries in each and every muffin. Whoops!

3) I have the most spectacularly awful and eclecticΒ  taste in music.

Honestly, my ipod has the most random collection of music EVER. Let me give you a little snippet of my playlist:

The highlighted selection includes:

1) The score from Pride and Prejudice.

2) Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time” (Gotta love the 80s!).

3)Β  “Come on Elileen”Β  (Awesome).

4) Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks” (A little something current).

5) Freak Nasty’s “Da Dip” (Yes, I know every single word).

6) Jay Z “Big Pimpin'” (I wish I was kidding).

7) Kellis’ “Milkshake” (As in “Brings the boy to the yard…”

Um, yeah, no judgment right?

4) I LOVE cheese plates with all of my heart.

I love love love cheese plates. Chase and I used to go on cheese plate dates out first two years of marriage because we could go to nice places, super early, and make the appetizer cheese plate our dinner = Frugal Frog! However, since becoming Paleo I have had nary a cheese plate. Golly geez, I miss them!

5)Β  The first time I ordered an alcoholic beverage was on my honeymoon:

I have ordered an alcoholic beverage thrice in my life. The first time, on my honeymoon, I decided to go for a mudslide–HA! Um, that was a mistake. I think I got through approximately 1/8 tsp and then my mouth started to burn from the liquor. I then decided I would much rather drink a delicious milkshake plain than ruin it with vodka. Literally, my tastebuds have an aversion to alcohol and I have now accepted it. Just iced tea for me, please!

6) I once had an eye patch.

Clearly, I do not have one in this picture, but I was the same age (5) when I got in the major Big Wheel Accident of 1990. Basically I was cruising down a hill in my big wheel and scratched my cornea on something. We had to go to the Emergency Room and I had to wear an eye patch (with a ducky band-aid) for a week.

7)Β  My most favorite show in the whole world used to be “Hey Dude.”

I grew my hair out expressly for the purpose of having a side braid like Melanie did in the credits. I wanted to BE her.

(She is now married to Ben Stiller, and she is still super cute!)

Now I get to tag all of my bloggy friends! Hincks did not mention a certain amount of tags, so I am going to go crazy!

    • I know, isn’t it crazy to think of the judges counting the blueberries in each muffin–so strange!

My mom was an excellent stylist! She was always meticulous at selecting our outfits. She still is!

Thanks for tagging me! I love learning new facts about you!

I feel the same about alcoholic drinks as well. I really don’t like it much unless it’s for a special occasion.

      • I grew up in Milton, which is in Trimble County! I am now right across the river in Madison, Indiana. You’re right, it’s always exciting to find other Paleo runners! Not too much of that in this part of the world yet πŸ™‚

  12. Good ol’ 4H – I used to be involved in that, too. πŸ™‚ I hated wearing the awful white outfit and green hat! Did you have to wear that too??

I wish I didn’t like the taste of wine but it is so dang good! We just started another whole30 so no vino for me and I think I’m going to be extra ambitious and shoot for 60 days instead of 30. I think you should join in on the fun! πŸ™‚

    • I never had to wear the outfit–phew! I dodged a bullet on that one!

I think I am totally going to do the Whole30 challenge. I think I need to clean up my eating a bit and I think that will really help!
