House Hunting Weekend

Sorry for not posting in days. It has been CRAZY in the Groomes’ household! This past weekend we did a MAJOR house hunting trip. We literally saw 10 houses on Saturday and 6 more on Sunday. It. Was. Insanity. While I fully realize that finding the perfect house is going to be impossible, there seemed to be at least one or more significant issues with almost every house we saw. For example:

This house looks small from the outside, but actually had a ton of room inside. It also had adorable paint colors inside.

Cute yellow, right? However, Chase kind of can’t walk upstairs without banging his head….problem.

It did have a cute kitchen:

The one super downside (beside the whole, Chase can’t stand up in the upstairs) is that the neighborhood was less than ideal. Bummer.

This house looked AWESOME from the outside:

It looks darling, right?

Now look what it is like inside:

Holy Wooden Paneling! No thanks!

We also looked at this house and were totally excited about all of the space:

Well, this little gem has quite a scenic view:

That would be the back of a Game Stop, Starbuck’s. Chipotle, and a bunch of other stores on a VERY busy intersection…um, no thanks.

After looking at so many houses, by the end of the weekend we were back at the beginning, our top choice is….

It turns out that the kitchen that I thought was “soooo small” last weekend, is actually quite palatial in comparison to many of the other houses–go figure! We haven’t made any decisions yet, but as of right now, this is at the top of our list.

Do you like house hunting? How many houses would you or did you see before you decided on “the one?”

After this weekend, I feel exhausted! I just want to have the decision over with! I am kind of awful at making decisions. I am the girl that had to go on 24 college visits before choosing “the one.” Indecisive much? šŸ™‚

  1. I love house hunting! My favorite is just driving around old expensive neighborhoods and looking at the beautiful houses. Good luck on your search! I just signed a one year lease on a house and it was scary, I can’t even imagine buying one!

  5. Oooh, house hunting! We’re in the same boat!!! After not getting the house that we put an offer in on, we haven’t found anything else that we’re interested in! It’s been a slow process, but we’re holding out for something we really love!

  6. Oh house hunting is so darn hard! It is so worth it and can be fun (even if it is overwhelming at times….) I wish you tons of luck. That house that you are leaning towards seems so darn cute! You can make do with a small kitchen, you’ll learn and it will be all YOURS! Good luck & enjoy the process!
As a recent homeowner I have two things to tell you
1.) If the price is right- there is a lot that you can fix
2.) Don’t settle, buy what is right for you! (It’s not something you want to regret)

  7. I love the house that is at the top of your list, it is adorable! Being someone that spends a ton of time in the kitchen, I think it could make or break a house BUT I guess you just have to keep in mind that you can always upgrade the kitchen if it is not what you want. Sending lots of good house hunting vibes your way! šŸ™‚

I actually cant wait for the day that I go house hunting with my future husband. I know the process can be stressful especially deciding which house to buy but I just can’t wait to have a place of my own with my husband.

I can’t believe the second house can look pretty on the outside but the inside is another thing. Look can be so deceiving.

Good luck with the house hunting/decision!
