A Delightful Day Off!

I actually had a magical day off yesterday! I work nights and weekends at my graduate school teaching job, so the days I have completely off are few and far between.

I began my day off with a trip to our apartment gym. I had the whole thing to myself–yay! So I took the chance to take pictures:

Our little gym recently updated the treadmills to the ones with attached TV screens–love it!

I jumped on the treadmill and busted out a quick 8 miles:

It felt great to run off the stress of the last few days. Plus, since I had the chance to channel surf between Hoda anf Kathie Lee, Rachel Ray, and Wendy Williams. Gotta love morning television. 🙂

I then revisited the last day of the Yankee Candle sale.

I am a super nerd and have started a “New House” box where I am storing things especially for when we move. I decided that storing away a bunch of wonderful smelling candles would be a lovely addition to my box!

Chase and I also had a chance to have a bit of a date day! I dragged him to my favorite grocery store to stock up on some produce.

I LOVE Fresh Market. I think I could live in that store. They actually had some amazing deals on strawberries–hooray!

We then headed to see the movie “Contraband” with Mark Wahlberg:

The movie was CRAZY! It was a very good “on the edge of your seat” type of movie.  I totally want Mark Wahlberg as an older brother. He is AMAZING!

It was a truly wonderful day!

What do you like to do on your days off?

Have you seen any good movies lately?

  2. How awesome to have a day off! It’s also very cool that your apartment building has a gym, even if it’s small. On my days off, I try to get outside as much as possible to take advantage of not being cooped up in an office!

  4. hi! I just found your blog today and I love it! I am so interested in learning more about Paleo eating. I know this may sound weird, but would you be willing to share a “day of eats” with me? I suffer from bloating and stomach pain/weird sounds every day! I am wondering if this would help. Thank you so much!

  6. as an older brother? but then you couldnt drool over him! haha – your apartment gym looks similar to ours! Though our treadmills are pretty standard!

    • Well, the older brother thing is because he is SO stinking short–I have trouble lusting after short guys–I am just too tall and love high heels too much. But if he is my brother, than I can totally hook y’all up. 🙂 🙂

  7. We just saw Mission Impossible over the weekend and the suspense definitely had me sitting on the edge of my seat! It’s hard to relax in a movie like that. It was pretty good though and I wouldn’t mind seeing Contraband too.

Our bed, bath and beyond has there fall/winter Yankee candles on clearance right now so if you have one near by you should check it out. 🙂 Ash told me we don’t need anymore candles. 😦

    • Mission Impossible was CRAZY “on the edge of your seat!” Honestly, I felt like I had finished a work out by the end of the movie–so much drama (same with Contraband!). Sometimes I just love a good action movie!

I totally forgot that BB&B carries Yankee Candle! Thanks for the tip!

They’re building a Fresh Market near my home in Miami and quite honestly I’ve never been to one before– although I’ve heard a lot about them. Is it cheaper than Whole Foods?

  12. I HEART Mark Wahlberg and his Calvin Klein boxer briefs 🙂 He will always be Marky Mark to me.

You know you run a lot when you you say you “busted out” a quick 8 miles. Good Job!

  13. I’ve never been to Fresh Market before… there isn’t one down here in Reading!

My ideal day off would include shopping & reading! I love to read but rarely have the extra time to do so!

  14. I tend to lay in bed until noon reading, sometimes get outside for a walk, and hang out with my roommates. Love my lazy days off! I’m definitely not one to bust out an 8miler haha, good for you!
