Curveball Weekend

This weekend we threw a giant, but exciting, curveball in our house hunting adventure. On Friday, we heard back about our offer on the house.

It was actually GOOD news; however, suddenly I realized that I NEVER thought the seller would accept our offer and I actually had been subconsciously hoping that they would reject it because I was not feeling good about it. The house was cute, but it had REALLY tiny rooms–I mean teeny tiny. I worried that we would feel “trapped” in a few years.

Last week, I often found myself secretly lusting over another house we saw. Granted, this house, which I lovingly termed “The Ugly Ducking,” did not have quite the curb appeal–but it was a total SWAN on the inside. (It is what is on the inside that counts, right Mumsie?!)

So here is our “Ugly Duckling” House:

It looks small from the outside right? Well it is GIANT. It has 5 bedrooms, 2 full baths, 2 guest baths and oodles of closet space.

And, it has a GREAT kitchen with a gas stove (the most important part!)

Chase stole all of the pictures off the camera last night, so I only have a couple. I promise I will share more later!

So we rescinded our offer on the first house and put in an offer on this house! Lots of paper signing commenced–yet again:

We then had a double celebration of both our Engagement Anniversary AND our 2nd House Offer!

(Worst picture EVER. Can you tell I was going on about 5 hours of sleep?)

Thanks, Chase for “putting a ring on it” 5 years ago!

Also I would like to give 2 Birthday shout-outs! Yesterday was Erica’s Birthday from For the Sake of Cake. I am so glad I have had the pleasure to actually meet Erica in person! I hope you had a WONDERFUL day!

And, in the non-blogger world, yesterday was also my father-in-law’s birthday:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN!!!!

We are SO blessed to have you in our lives! I WISH we could have been there to celebrate with you! We love you!

  8. theoretically, there were many better house options for us than the one we chose, but none gave us that feeling that a cute little cottage home did so we bought it and we are so happy that we did. Always trust your instinct.

I think the second house is cute on the outside! And it’s amazing what a little landscaping could do… I should send my landscapper husband down your way! I hope this offer works out for you.
